Ship Agent (Operations) is the first point of contact for vessels arriving into the port and processes all necessary formalities and declarations in a timely manner to ensure smooth entry and departure of ships assigned. He ensures full compliance to statutory formalities and factual declarations. Ship Agent (Operations) identifies bottlenecks to propose improvements to the organisation's workflow and assists with its subsequent implementation.
Ship Agent (Operations) is expected to establish good relationships with Captain and Chief Engineer, and is an organised person who is able to juggle the demands of paperwork and on-site work. He/She may be expected to work irregular hours to cater to the different arrival times of ships, and cope with unanticipated events and tight work schedules.
- Handling daily commercial & operational matters of Chemical Tankers, like issuing voyage instructions, laytime calculations, handling of BLs and LOIs, nominating agents, arrange/approve port disbursement accounts & CTM etc.
- Responsible for the day and day cargo operations/arrangements of chemical tankers you in charge, and update the ships' schedule to all involved parties including ships' owner.
- Assist in managing administration within Ship Operation Team
~ Acquire and allocate resources to support operations.
~ Attend at sites to monitor cargo loading and unloading operations if need.
~ Handle cargo documentations, invoices and inwards shipment.
~ Identify and solicit prospective clients.
~ Liaise with clients on status of cargo clearance.
~ Liaise with local agencies on daily work matters.
~ Monitor vessel arrival and departure.
~ Optimise utilisation of resources.
~ Prepare quotations and proforma disbursements as required by clients, ship-owners and shipping lines.
~ Process all formalities and declarations in a timely manner to ensure smooth entry/departure of ships assigned.
~ Propose workflow improvements to improve efficiency.
~ Solve problems arising in the course of work.
~ Supervise and guide Shipping Clerks (Documentation).
-- Handle PDA invoices, issue EPDA & FPDA properly
- Minimum A level / Diploma, preferable in Marine/chemical tankers related background
- Pleasant personalities mature, with good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication in English. Proficiency in Chinese with oral & read will be more advantage.
- Good skill in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook will be advantageous.
- Good sense of responsibility and self-motivation, take initiative and well organized.
