Site Supervision and Coordination: Supervise an oversee daily construction activities (excavation, trenching, pipe installation, backfilling, & etc), ensuring they are carried out according to technical designs, specifications, and project timelines. Coordinate and liaise with subcontractors and workers on-site to ensure timely work schedule and safety protocols are followed.
Resource Allocation: Ensure the efficient use of manpower, materials, and equipment on-site to avoid delays and wastage.
Technical Documentation and Reporting: Interpret and implement construction drawings, design plans, ensuring work is executed according to the project specifications. As-built documentation of any changes or deviations from the original designs for future reference. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site reports in detailed work progress, resource usage, and any issues or delays encountered. Resolve any on-site technical issues by coordinating with project engineers and consultants, ensuring that any discrepancies between design and on-site conditions are addressed.
Quality Control and Assurance: On-Site inspection on construction activities to ensure it complies with quality standards, project specifications, and identify any non-conformance with design or quality standards with corrective actions taken promptly. Oversee the testing and commissioning of installed pipelines, ensuring that pressure tests, leak tests, and other quality checks are performed.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Enforce safety regulations on-site and collaborate with the safety team to conduct regular safety audits and toolbox meetings to raise awareness on the safety risks among workers. Ensure construction activities comply with environmental regulations, including water management, soil contamination, and waste disposal protocols.
Site Layout and Surveying: Conduct or oversee site surveys, setting out lines, levels, and reference points to guide construction activities. Ensure accurate levelling and alignment of underground pipelines, preventing issues such as improper slope. Use and maintain survey equipment such as GPS, theodolites, and total stations to ensure precise site measurements.
Materials and Equipment Management: Prepare and manage material requisition lists based on the project’s requirements and construction schedule. Inspect and verify the quality and quantity of materials delivered to the site and ensure proper use of maintenance of construction equipment, preventing delays due to equipment failure.
Contract and Subcontractor Management: Manage subcontractor activities on-site and ensure they adhere to contract terms. Monitor their performance with feedback provided on their progress and address any issues that could affect project delivery.
Project Scheduling and Monitoring: Assist in preparing and maintaining work schedules of construction activities. Monitor the progress of construction activities against the master schedule and identify potential delays and taking corrective actions to keep the project on track and milestones are achieved on time.
Client and Stakeholder Communication: Participate in site meetings with clients, consultants, and stakeholders with the updates on construction progress provided and concerns addressed. Implement any specific client requests or changes to the project plan. Regular updates to the senior management and project team on site progress, challenges, and resource needs.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks on-site, such as soil instability, groundwater challenges, or equipment failure, and develop risk mitigation strategies. Work with the project manager to develop contingency plans for unforeseen issues such as inclement weather, labour shortages, or material delays. Report and document any incidents, accidents, or near-misses on site to the Safety Team.
Compliance with Regulatory and Industry Standards: Collaborate with cross-departments and project team in ensuring all necessary permits on certification, equipment license, permit entry-of-work are obtained before starting work. Ensure that all on-site activities meet industry standards. Coordinate with regulatory authorities for inspections and certifications at different stages of the project, ensuring all legal requirements are met.
Sustainability and Innovation: Promote and implement environmentally sustainable practices on-site, such as waste minimization, recycling, and efficient water use. Utilize Building Information Modelling (BIM)/AutoCAD, other relevant software to enhance site coordination and efficiency.
