We are committed to sustainability and are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager to expand our presence in the Indian market.

Postion Overview

This role should be specialized in developing business opportunities in Indian market. The ideal candidate will identify and pursue new business opportunities related to battery cells for electric vehicles (EVs), as well as battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects.

This role requires a deep understanding of the Indian automotive landscape and proven experience in engaging with Indian counterparts.

Key Responsibilities

(The main job responsibilities should include, but not be limited to)

  • Business Development: Develop and execute strategic plans to acquire new customers and partners in the Indian market, focusing on electric mobility and energy storage solutions.
  • Market Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in the electric vehicles (EV)and battery energy storage systems (BESS) sector , specifically two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and grid-scale BESS projects in India.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including HQ in China, OEMs in China (own subsidiaries), distributors (own subsidiaries), JV partners in India, and non-JV partners in India, etc.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare and present compelling business proposals, ensuring alignment with customer needs and company capabilities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product team and tech team to tailor solutions that meet local market requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Negotiation: Lead negotiations with potential clients and partners to secure contracts and POs and establish long-term collaborations.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on sales performance and market trends, providing insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Networking: Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to enhance visibility and foster relationships.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or equivalent in a related field; an MBA is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in BD or sales or a similar role with a focus on the Indian market.
  • Strong understanding of the Indian automotive industry, regulatory landscape, and customer preferences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with Indian counterparts.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to travel to India and China HQ as required.
