The jobholder leads Airbus Product Safety activities in the region (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Timor-Leste) for all safety matters with authorities, customer airlines and other aviation industry stakeholders. The jobholder reports to the Regional Safety Director SEA (Southeast Asia) located in Singapore.
As Regional Safety Manager SEA, you will interact directly with the CEOs of the customer airlines in the region (including the major ones), the Director Generals of National Aviation Authorities (NAA) and, where required, with the Ministry of Transport. You must have the capability to persuade at executive level to take the actions required to efficiently address the identified safety risks.

Responsibilities:
Lead Global Regional Airbus Safety Plan and In-Service Operations Evaluation Group activities in SEA:
- Maintain and further develop relationships between Airbus, international institutions (e.g. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)), governmental institutions (e.g. NAA), customer airlines, industry groups (e.g., Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA), International Air Transport Association (IATA)) and other industry stakeholders involved in aviation safety in the region.
- Identify potential safety issues relevant to the Air Transportation System regional environment with a strong but non-exclusive focus on :
- Customer airlines: Flight Operations, Maintenance and Engineering, Training, Safety Management System (SMS),
- NAA: Oversight System (Operations, Airworthiness and Personal Licencing) and State Safety Programs
- Air Navigation System: Air Transport Management and Performance Based Navigation aspects.
- Define and deploy appropriate mitigation plans to address these safety issues and ensure consistency of said safety plans with other regions, so that Airbus actually speaks one voice on safety matters.
- When applicable, create and manage conditions for the deployment of Safety Cooperation Agreements between Airbus and ICAO Member states in the region.
- Create the conditions for the development/enhancement of a good safety culture in the region consistently with the Safety Management Systems (SMS) spirit.
- Support safety promotion activities for all Airbus personnel in the region in coordination with the SMS network.
- Support product safety enhancement activities in the region when requested.
- Support sales campaigns when safety matters are on the agenda.
Represents Airbus during safety related events/ meetings
- Act as the Airbus representative to regional aviation safety groups, such as the Co-operative Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness Program - South Asia (COSCAP-SEA), Asia Pacific Regional Aviation Safety Team (APRAST), etc.
- Represents Airbus at national and/or international aviation safety seminars organized by ICAO or other institutions in the region.
- Promote the image of the company in terms of safety initiatives
Contributes to Airbus Aircraft accident incident activities
- Create and maintain the conditions to ensure Airbus has direct access to and can participate in official accident investigations in case of an Airbus aircraft accident occurring in the region.
- Support the Airbus product safety department in all tasks related to an ICAO Annex 13 Airbus accident/major incident investigation in the region.

For the South East Asia region:
- Lead the establishment and maintain long-term relationship between Airbus, government, customer airlines, industry groups and other industry stakeholders involved in aviation safety,
- Lead the deployment of targeted action plans and ensure their efficiency,
- Represents Airbus during safety related events / meetings
- Contributes if required to Airbus Aircraft accident incident activities.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years working experience as a manager in the Safety Department of an airline or MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations)
- Good understanding of Safety Management Principles as described in ICAO Document 9859.
- Working experience in the following fields would be advantageous:

Human Factors
Safety Management System - Previous or Current holders of an ICAO recognised state professional pilot or engineering licence would be advantageous.
- Working experience with any of the following medium or large commercial passenger jet aircraft - A320, A330, A340, A350, A380, B737, B757, B767, B777, B747.
