About Child Protection Specialist Centre (CPSC):

We are dedicated to providing quality home-based services and support to families and children experiencing abuse or severe neglect at home. Referrals are received from the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) Child Protection Services to assist families and children identified as needing non-statutory services and support. Guided by a child-centred, family-focused, and community-based approach, our aim is to empower families to reach their fullest potential and provide ongoing support through life’s changes and challenges.


We invite professionals to apply for the post of Play Therapist in HEART@Fei Yue Child Protection Specialist Centre. You have passion to support the recovery of children and pre-teens who have experienced abuse, neglect and/or family violence. You will work with child protection caseworkers, families and a clinical supervisor within a multi-disciplinary setting to provide play therapy services to these children between 3 to 12 years old.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide play therapy for children and pre-teens presenting with behavioural and emotional difficulties due to attachment injury, trauma, losses, adjustment.
  • Work with caregivers to equip them with knowledge and skills to support children coping with emotional stress or trauma, to encourage and support them to provide a safe and nurturing environment for their children.
  • Conduct parent-child sessions to enhance recovery.
  • Maintain play therapy rooms and materials.
  • Document therapy sessions, progress, reviews and provide regular updates to caseworkers.
  • Participate in case conferences, family meetings to support caseworkers and the children/parents.
  • Participate in individual and group supervisions, and attend team/department meetings.

Requirements:

  • A recognised Play Therapy certification, in addition to a degree in social work, counselling, early childhood care and education, psychology or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with Association of Play Therapy (Singapore) or a recognised professional body.
  • Have minimally one year of experience working with vulnerable children and families, including play therapy services.
  • Knowledge of children’s developmental needs and trauma is an advantage.
  • Experience working in the social service sector.
  • Good interpersonal, writing and communication skills.
  • Able to work one evening a week or occasional weekends.
  • Able to travel to Redhill, Choa Chu Kang and offsite to conduct play therapy.
  • Willingness to learn and use different therapy modalities given the wide range of presentations of clients.
  • A team player, adaptive, independent and resourceful.
