Job scope:
The Marine Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safe and smooth operations of his or her assigned Oil and Oil-Chemical Type tankers.
Responsibilities:
· To ensure that the vessels are able to perform their voyages and operations in accordance with Charterers Voyage Orders in strict compliance with owners policies and Procedures.
· To arrange and manage vetting inspections, including submissions onto the OCIMF SIRE online platform.
· Carry out on board and / or remote pre-vetting inspections of the assigned vessels.
· To oversee the vessels’ navigational matters, including review of passage plans and conduct of navigation audits.
· To ensure compliance with terminal, operators, oil majors and charterers’ requirements.
· To liaise with and manage matters in relation to Flag State and Port State.
· To ensure that Q88 and HVPQ are updated at all times.
· To advise on changes to regulations, requirements and industry best practices.
· To promote and manage the vessels’ health, safety and environment compliance.
· Plan and execute Ship visits of the assigned ships in close liaison with his seniors
· To assist GM in planning and materialising Crew changes in line with the requirements
· To provide suggestions for improvement of company’s SMS.
· To provide vessels with guidance and information regarding the above.
· To provide support, training and enforcement in respect of crew competency and discipline.
· To provide support in respect of queries regarding vessels’ capabilities and performances.
· Member of company’s emergency response team.
· Attend to various tasks as assigned by seniors related to job.
· Closely liaise and communicate with owners and charterers to ensure smooth operation of the vessels assigned.
· Cooperate with the Technical Superintendent in efficient running of the assigned vessels with the budget.
Requirements:
· Seagoing experience as a Master and Chief Officer on Oil and Oil-Chemical Tankers OR at least 2 years of shore experience in managing Oil Product and Oil-Chemical Tankers
· Experience in relation to safety, health and environment management and compliance for Oil and Oil-Chemical tankers.
· Additional sailing experience on pure chemical tankers will be beneficial
· Familiar with international and local maritime regulations and requirements.
· Result oriented person with strong sense of integrity and professionalism.
· Excellent leadership, teamwork, management and communication skills.
· Able to motivate and inspire people.
· Be proactive in approach with good decision making ability
· Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
· Ready to travel at short notice
