Chef/Cook (Pizza and Pasta)

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Pizza and Pasta Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of traditional Italian pizza and pasta preparation techniques, be able to work under pressure, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, delicious dishes to our customers.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook pizzas, ensuring perfect dough consistency, sauce preparation, and the use of fresh toppings.
  • Master pizza dough techniques such as kneading, stretching, and tossing.
  • Operate pizza ovens efficiently and ensure pizzas are cooked to perfection.
  • Innovate new pizza recipes and toppings, keeping up with culinary trends while ensuring traditional Italian authenticity.
  • Prepare a variety of fresh pasta and sauces, including but not limited to marinara, Alfredo, Bolognese, and Pesto.
  • Ensure the quality and texture of cooked pasta dishes meet high standards.
  • Create handmade pasta and explore new pasta recipes using traditional techniques.
  • Combine different ingredients to craft signature pasta dishes that reflect Italian heritage.
  • Assist in the development of pizza and pasta items on the menu, incorporating seasonal ingredients.
  • Keep up with current food trends and customer preferences to suggest and design creative dishes.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to introduce new offerings and improve existing ones.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared in accordance with company standards and health regulations.
  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
  • Implement proper stock rotation procedures and monitor the freshness of ingredients, particularly dough and sauces.
  • Minimize food waste through efficient kitchen management and portion control.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient food preparation during peak hours.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff in pizza and pasta preparation techniques.
  • Communicate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely delivery of food and to address customer feedback related to pizza and pasta dishes.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pizza Chef or Pasta Chef in a high-volume restaurant.
  • Expertise in traditional Italian pizza-making (wood-fired or brick oven experience is a plus) and fresh pasta preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of Italian ingredients, cooking techniques, and equipment specific to pizza and pasta.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in maintaining consistency in food quality.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to develop and present new pizza and pasta dishes.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Passion for Italian cuisine and a commitment to delivering an authentic dining experience.
