Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, grill, and cook yakitori skewers and other Japanese dishes to the restaurant's high standards.
  • Ensure quality control of ingredients and final dishes, maintaining consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to create and refine the yakitori menu and other Japanese dishes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring all cooking stations meet hygiene standards.
  • Manage food preparation areas, stock, and inventory to ensure sufficient supplies during service hours.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on yakitori and Japanese cooking techniques.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
  • Assist in developing new Japanese dishes or seasonal specials to enhance the dining experience.
  • Monitor grill temperature and timing for optimal cooking results.
  • Work closely with the restaurant manager to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Yakitori Chef or in a Japanese kitchen environment.
  • Expertise in grilling yakitori skewers and proficiency in other Japanese cooking techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for maintaining high culinary standards.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Team player with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle various kitchen tasks, including food prep, inventory management, and kitchen cleanliness.
