Job Summary:
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
General
- Assist the Engineering Manager with all technical tasks to ensure smooth running of daily engineering operations.
- Review the operations of the Engineering Department to ensure the quality of broadcast operations meet industry standards.
- Remain up-to-date with outdoor broadcast technology and equipment.
- Guide the Assistant / Trainee Engineers to read technical (Auto CAD) engineering drawings and plan for their training where needed.
- Ensure procedure for video equipment testing and preparation is in place.
- Ensure adequate processes are in place for communication/escalation of technical related problems that arise during a project.
- Keep Engineering environment (Warehouse, Engineering Room and desks) clean, functional, safe and presentable.
- Ensure compliance of engineering procedures with Health & Safety guidelines.
- Work with Head of Engineering to improve and test system designs.
- Supervise and schedule maintenance of specific categories of broadcast equipment to ensure the equipment are fully functional and well maintained (internally and externally clean/dust-free).
- Monitor physical and technical quality and appearance of broadcast equipment. Prepare the maintenance & improvement report.
- Plan and maintain a list of specific categories of broadcast equipment which require scheduled maintenance.
Before Project
- Test, prepare, evaluate, install, and upgrade all broadcast equipment for projects.
- Assign task to team for testing and preparation for any new project to meet the deadlines set by Technical Manager.
- Adjust task schedule according to tasks/manpower on hand at any given time.
- Participate in client/contractor meetings and site recces if required.
- Prepare Engineering Book for each project with relevant technical information and ensure relevant parties receive it before project.
During Project
- Support the project for technical issues when on rotation. To monitor support email and respond to communications received from project.
- Ensure that the broadcast equipment and systems are running. Solve/escalate problem to Unit Manager providing technical specifications of problem, i.e., what has been done to troubleshoot problem and outcome. If there is no Unit Manager, escalate the problem to Support team directly.
- In the absence of Unit Manager liaise with client and ensure that the client's needs are taken care of and communicate them with the Support Team.
- Ensure Unit Manager is informed of all issues on site, especially interactions with client.
- Ensure equipment and general safety is reported to Unit Manager on job.
- Protect company's assets, brand reputation and image, and report any related issue to Unit Manager.
- Assist Unit Manager to fill up fault report form and interpret technical specifications.
After Project
- Ensure de-rig of video / broadcast equipment is safely completed after event and ensure the equipment are properly packed in correct cases.
- Support Unit Manager in preparation of technical reports and crew report of the project.
- Write technical feedback on the overall system and setup to the Head of Engineering.
- Take necessary actions based on technical reports provided by Unit Manager.
- Conduct testing of video equipment after the project. Report any faults which were not addressed onsite using the Fault Report Form.
- Test the video equipment which were reported as faulty onsite. In absence of Head of Engineering, Senior or Guaranteed Engineers may cover in his own specialization.

- Willingness to Travel: Away from home regularly, sometimes for long periods.
- Safety Knowledge: Good knowledge of the principles of safety at work as applied in the TV industry.
- Qualifications: Degree or diploma and aptitude relevant to Broadcast Engineering (specializing in Broadcast Engineering/Audio Engineering/IT or any other related area).
- Understanding of OB Systems: Understanding of Outside Broadcast systems and environment.
- Experience: Knowledge and experience of operating and troubleshooting a range of OB equipment in sound, communication, IP, etc.
- Work Experience: Minimum 3-year work experience in Outside Broadcast Environment.
- Event Experience: Experience with large scale events is necessary.

- Willing to work at Changi South.
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM.
