Job Summary
The purpose of the role is to partner Relationship Managers and Product Partners to engage priority corporate clients on capital structure insights to further origination efforts. Scope of this engagement can include covering tactical positioning with debt investors to minimise cost of capital raise, funding and liquidity considerations and managing volatility through mitigating regional risk exposure and quantifying inefficiencies amongst others. This can be directly or in conjunction with the senior members within the Capital Structure & Rating Advisory (CSRA) team.
Strategy
The Associate Director is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Capital Structure & Rating Advisory team’s origination, coverage and execution strategy in the APAC region.
Business
• The CSRA team provides thought leadership, best practice insight, corporate finance and rating advice to corporate and FI clients. Content is driven by deep understanding of client needs, sector trends and market themes to help the origination efforts.
• Support seniors in identifying client’s financial needs and solutions
• Prepare under senior’s supervision client ready materials around capital structure optimisation, ratings, acquisition financing, working capital management, or other relevant corporate finance topics
• Support origination and execution of key rating advisory mandates
• Develop sector specific content focussed around topical financial and credit rating trends
• Stay abreast of news flow for clients, sectors and rating agencies methodologies
• Engage with peers in the bank to complete client’s presentations
• Assist seniors in the team in actively engaging with clients, establishing a role as a trusted partner / thought leader in respect of areas of team competence.
• Support seniors in the preparation of internal materials related to the team
• The coaching and support of others in the team, and beyond where appropriate

• Engagement tracker & pipeline file and CSRA client coverage list kept up to date
• Support with origination pipeline and client selection and report appropriately and timely to Regional Head
• Help to maintain ratings advisory pipeline and deal team
• Ensure Conflict of Interest register remains updated

Our Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience of a similar role, in a leading commercial and/or investment banking environment. To include: experience of addressing capital structure and rating relevant topics with corporate clients from both a practical and a theoretical standpoint
- 5 + years of relevant experience and understanding of investment and commercial banking organisational design and a demonstrated ability to ‘navigate’ to achieve client delivery in a safe and sound manner
- Familiarity with rating agency methodologies. Prior experience in rating agencies considered a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to work across cultures and within a dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to appropriately ‘manage’ demands from peers and superiors
- Genuine team-based approach to making the organisation work for the business.
- Comfortable with an advisory/structuring role with significant client contact
