(A) Job Summary:
Assists the Construction Manager in overseeing day-to-day site works. This person will need to ensure site safety. Use of cranes at site involves many people from various organisations, such as the crane manufacturer, site occupier, crane contractor, and various sub-contractors that use the cranes.
(B) Essential Job Functions:
The Lifting Engineer cum Site Engineer is responsible, but not limited to, the following:
Site Engineer Roles:
- Supervise & coordinate day-to-day site works, including sub-contract works, safety and quality control.
- Monitor the daily progress of work-on-site, identifying potential delays or issues and implementing necessary
- Coordination, supervision & monitoring of the progress of the project works on site, manpower mobilization, materials planning & ordering ary adjustments to keep the project on track.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly progress reports for in-house, owner, and consultant submissions, highlighting key achievements and milestones.
- Produce weekly site progress reports and necessary submissions
- Attend meetings, and conduct site inspections on work progress to ensure quality control by authority requirements.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment and ensure compliances according to standard rules and regulations
- Any ad-hoc duties as per assigned by Construction Manager/ General Manager/ Project Director.
Lifting Engineer Roles:
- A person who is required to plan safe systems of work, using lifting equipment.
- Conduct/coordinate lifting operation in the area such as safety rules and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
- Investigate crane accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities.
- Coordinate lifting plan programs to determine their adequacy including review of short- and long-term strategic safety planning and development.
- Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to Lifting Crew’s safety initiatives and necessary changes.
- Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
- Perform safety audits and inspect LGs, LMs, lifting machinery validity, insurance, and safety equipment to ensure safety rules and regulations are complying.
- Order and maintain lifting work safety inventory including supplies and equipment.
(C) Minimum Qualifications/ Job Experience:
- Minimum 6 years’ engineering experience with a Degree in Civil Engineering recognized by the PE Board or qualification / Degree in the relevant field subject to the acceptance of the SO.
- At least 3 years’ experience in main contractor on projects of similar scale, nature and complexity.
- Prior experience in working in construction site, especially in Civil Projects.
- Prior experience in working with lifting equipment, especially mobile cranes, and tower cranes etc.
(D) Personality:
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to influence various stakeholders and build long term relationships.
- Ability to lead Construction staff and to provide supervision to the staff.
(E) Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
- Strong technical knowledge in current construction technologies.
- Strong understanding of general construction methods.
- Strong knowledge of local regulation and engineering standards.
- Very familiar with MS, Primavera and other software to develop construction schedule.
- Strong time management skill with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyse and synthesize complex issues quickly and provide counter measures to settle issues.
