Scope of Services
The services required for the position are as outlined below:
- Reporting StructureThe School Science Support Assistant shall report to the School’s Head of Department (HOD) for Science and HOD for Student Development.
- Job Responsibilities
The role includes the following tasks:Support the Preparation and Maintenance of Science ResourcesPrepare resources as requested by teachers for science lessons and activities for Primary 3 to 6 students.
Ensure that equipment and materials are properly stored after the completion of activities or lessons.
Housekeeping of science labs and equipment, ensuring they are well-maintained.
Maintain an inventory of lab equipment and materials, conducting regular stocktaking.
Assist HOD Science in inventory management to replenish stock as necessary.
Assist HOD Science in implementing general safety measures for science labs and monitor compliance.
Oversee the lab schedule for science lessons.
Perform cleaning duties of the science labs.
Support Operational Needs of the IBEEP Room (Activity Centre)Loan games to students.
Manage students' safety and discipline within the activity centre.
Create simple resources and manipulatives, as directed by the school (materials will be provided).
Housekeeping of the activity centre, ensuring that equipment and materials (e.g., Lego sets, PlayStations) are clean and well-maintained.
Maintain an inventory of IBEEP equipment and materials, conducting regular stocktaking.
Assist in setting up the IBEEP room for school events and activities.
Support school programmes as required.
Perform cleaning duties of the IBEEP room.
Other DutiesPerform any other duties as assigned by School Leaders, HOD Science, HOD Student Development, or Administration/Operations.
Support the Operations Manager in maintaining the cleanliness of the science labs and IBEEP room.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
The Personnel should ideally possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Fluent in English communication.
- Preferably have GCE ‘O’ Level qualifications.
- At least 2 years of experience in science lab support and working with children in group settings, ideally in a primary school.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with others.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office is preferred.
- A positive working attitude, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
