Job Summary

Purpose:

SC Ventures ideates, experiments and creates Ventures to operate their unique business models in stand-alone subsidiary entities. The process heavily relies on developing software platforms and integrated systems to deliver these new services – in B2B, B2B2C and B2C models.

The SCV Cloud Engineer is crucial in providing support to Ventures' infrastructure on AWS, ensuring secure by design and adherence to SCV standards. This role also acts as a technical liaison for AWS cloud management, bridging the gap between AWS, SCV teams, and Venture Tech teams. Hands-on operational experience is key to provide sound guidance on building and running cloud environments that align with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Technical:
• Cloud Infrastructure: Design, administer, and engineer cloud solutions on AWS, focusing on security and SCV standards.
• AWS Services: Configure and manage core AWS services like SCPs, Config, AWS Security Hub, IAM, CloudFormation Stack Sets, Inspector, Trusted Advisor, Control Tower, CloudWatch Audit Manager etc.
• Cross-Account Management: Implement and manage Control Tower for effective cross-account governance.
• Work with Azure services (when needed): Defender for Cloud/Endpoints, MCAS, Azure AD, Purview Compliance Manager
• Scripting and Automation: Utilize Python, Bash, and YAML for scripting and automation tasks.
• IaC: Employ Hashicorp Terraform and CloudFormation to manage infrastructure as code.
• Troubleshooting: Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in cloud environments.
• Documentation: Create and maintain clear technical documentation and playbooks.
• Venture Support: Assist ventures in operationalization, including account hardening and transition tasks.

Automation & Scripting
• Use scripting skills (Python, Bash) for automation and configuration management
• Work with YAML, JSON for infrastructure and configuration definitions

Operations & Troubleshooting
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Ventures' cloud environments
• Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance and costs
• Assist in hardening Venture accounts and transitioning them to production


Qualifications

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent (or equivalent)
  • 3+ years hands-on cloud engineering and tech operations experience
  • Deep understanding of core AWS services, Cross-account, and Control Tower
  • Strong scripting (Python, Bash) and Infrastructure as Code (HashiCorp, CloudFormation) skills
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within fast-paced startup/fintech environments
  • Holds relevant certifications (AWS, Terraform Associate, Azure, or equivalent), demonstrating commitment to continuous learning

Role Specific Technical Competencies

  • Advance knowledge in Cloud Operations & Engineering
  • Proficient in DevSecOps
  • Good knowledge in Information Security Operations
  • Proficient in AWS Platform Administration & Technical Support
  • Proficient in Identity Management platform resolution
  • Advanced knowledge in Coding / Scripting skills in Python, YAML, JSON and API Management
  • Proven experience through past projects and/or work involving AWS and Azure is essential
  • Problem-solving and collaborative skills across various Venture stakeholders (Tech, Architecture, ICS)
  • Strong knowledge in multiple cloud providers AWS and Azure service offerings
  • Familiarity with code management and pipeline secure deployment concepts is beneficial
