Position Title: Site Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical)
Location: Various project sites
Job Summary:
The Site Engineer (M&E Works) is responsible for managing, coordinating, and overseeing mechanical, electrical (M&E), and maintenance works on-site. The role ensures that the project progresses according to schedule, quality standards, and safety regulations. The Site Engineer will lead the M&E team, conduct site surveys, handle minor works, and perform hands-on troubleshooting when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management & Planning: Plan, schedule, and oversee M&E works on-site, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, fire protection, and maintenance systems.
Assist the Manager in developing project schedules, resource plans, and risk management strategies.
Allocate and supervise manpower, materials, and equipment to ensure project progress aligns with the schedule.
- Coordination & Liaison: Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure all M&E and maintenance works are executed as per project specifications.
Attend project meetings and provide updates on M&E progress, challenges, and resource needs.
Communicate regularly with the client or consultant for inspections, approvals, and any necessary clarifications.
- Supervision & Quality Control: Supervise and monitor M&E installations and maintenance works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to verify that the work adheres to the design, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Implement and monitor quality control measures to maintain high standards in workmanship and material use.
- On-Site Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Address and resolve any technical issues or challenges that arise during the execution of M&E and maintenance works.
Perform hands-on troubleshooting of M&E systems to ensure functionality and resolve operational issues.
Provide solutions for site-related problems and coordinate with the design team or consultants to resolve discrepancies or adjustments required.
- Site Survey & Minor Works: Conduct thorough site surveys to assess the condition and scope of M&E and maintenance works.
Manage and oversee minor works, including repairs, replacements, and system upgrades.
Ensure accurate measurement and documentation during site surveys to aid in project planning and execution.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all M&E and maintenance works comply with workplace safety and health regulations.
Identify potential risks or hazards and implement necessary safety measures to mitigate them.
Ensure that the team follows proper safety procedures, and report incidents or near-misses promptly.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including daily progress reports, site diaries, and inspection reports.
Review and verify M&E and maintenance shop drawings, method statements, and as-built drawings.
Ensure all work completion certificates, inspection forms, and related documentation are properly signed off.
- Testing & Commissioning: Oversee the testing and commissioning of M&E systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with project specifications.
Coordinate with the commissioning team to ensure that systems are tested, adjusted, and certified before handover.
- Leadership & Team Management: Led a team of workers, supervisors, and subcontractors to execute M&E works efficiently and on schedule.
Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and site staff.
Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and high performance among the site team.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in M&E works, maintenance, and troubleshooting within the construction industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of M&E systems such as HVAC, electrical wiring, fire protection, plumbing, and maintenance works. Ability to read, interpret, and implement engineering drawings and specifications.
- Driving License: Possess a valid Class 2B or Class 3 driving license.
- Hands-On Skills: Ability to perform hands-on troubleshooting and minor repair works on-site.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and Microsoft Office.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide site teams.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to address technical, logistical, and operational challenges promptly and effectively.
