Accountabilities:
- Understand the customer’s network structure and become familiar with the Customer’s network implementation and support processes and procedures to ensure supporting a network with proper SLAs.
- Carry out migrations of existing setup, features, and configuration as required by the customer in a production/testing environment and help improve plans to implement new features to increase the network stability or user requirements.
- Perform IOS upgrades and patches to fix software and ensure that the environment is bug/vulnerable free by keeping system with up to date software.
- Troubleshoot production issues and network problems to fix any user related issues and work with principal vendors and customer to provide the resolution with in the proposed timelines.
- Raise equipment Return Material Authorizations (RMA’s) and to track till problem resolution and produce incident report for any severity issues that was reported by customers or end users.
- Be available for customers’ questions in assisting their needs to support network related issues and monitor customer network leveraging appropriate monitoring tools as well for special scheduled activities performed during non-business hours or public holidays due to system upgrades.
- Perform the wireless testing across customer’s different locations and identifying or fixing if there are any performance issues or slowness in network for wireless users.
- Identify the principal vendor best practices and only perform changes with customer approval to improve the security levels.
- Co-ordinate between his/her own Global Network Centre for any escalations or major issues and bridge between customer / senior resources / vendor / etc
The Individual and their Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experiences in network operations including wireless technologies.
- Hands on experience in fixing user issues in production environment is essential
- CCNA certified plus any other networking certifications preferred
- Basic understanding about Routing / switching protocols.
- In-depth knowledge on Stacking / L2 technologies / STP / IP Addressing.
- Proficient at performing local / remote IOS upgrades on different products and RMAs for faulty devices in production
- Good understanding about different monitoring tools like Cisco PI / PRTG / Spectrum / Syslog / etc and TCP/IP structure and IP scheme
- Strong knowledge on Wireless / ARP / MAC / L2 loops / Switching.
- Understand DNS / DHCP / Security knowledge is an added advantage.
- Eagerness and willingness to pick up & adapt new technologies and automation.
