Job Description - Visitor Relations Officer (VROs)


About the Role:
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Visitor Relations Officers (VROs) to conduct guided tours at Marina Barrage and the SSG. As a VRO, you will engage visitors by providing insightful and informative tours, ensuring their safety, and assisting with various operational tasks. If you have a passion for customer service and tour guiding, we want you to join our team!


Key Responsibilities:

● Conduct guided tours for visitors based on approved scripts (in English and Chinese).

● Manage crowds in front of the Information Counter.

● Answer questions from visitors about Marina Barrage and SSG.

● Ensure tours are conducted safely, including providing safety briefings at the start of each tour.

● Report any physical defects of the exhibits to the Gallery Management Officer (GMO).

● Conduct site recces and inspect pre- and post-event handovers for indoor rooms.

● Assist with visitor evacuation and other emergency duties when required (e.g., first-aid, crowd control).

● Monitor public activities to ensure compliance with Marina Barrage’s guidelines.

● Assist the Senior Visitor Relations Officer (SVRO) at the Information Counter when needed.

● Prepare and set up function rooms for meetings and visits, including preparing beverages.

● Be deployed for various miscellaneous tasks (e.g., safe distancing, temperature screening, setting up barricades, tents, etc.) as needed.


Job Requirements:

● Minimum of 1 year of experience in tour guiding or a related field.

● Diploma qualification in any discipline.

● Obtain First-Aid and AED certification within two months from the start of deployment.

● Pass an assessment prescribed by the Board for conducting tours within 6 weeks of starting.


Contract Details:

Job Commencement Date: 1st January 2025.

● This is a contract-based position.

● The contract terms, including salary and benefits, will be discussed during the interview process.


Additional Information:

● The VRO will report to the Senior Visitor Relations Officer (SVRO) and be part of the visitor management team.

● Tour timings are 0900hrs, 1000hrs, 1100hrs, 1300hrs, 1400hrs, 1500hrs, 1600hrs, and 1700hrs daily (except Tuesdays).

● Working on weekends or after office hours may be required.
