As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead our global operations and ensure the company's objectives are met.
Job Summary:
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) will oversee the operational strategy and execution across all regions, reporting directly to the CEO and senior management, and providing regular updates to shareholders. The COO will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, driving performance improvements, and aligning the company's operational goals with its strategic vision. This role requires extensive travel to Guinea to oversee and manage key operations, while also ensuring collaboration across teams in Singapore, China, and Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the company’s global operational strategy in alignment with business objectives, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across all regions.
- Senior Management Reporting: Regularly report operational performance, key initiatives, and financial metrics to the CEO, senior management, and shareholders, providing data-driven insights and strategic recommendations.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations in Singapore, Guinea, China, and Malaysia, ensuring operational processes are efficient, scalable, and aligned with company goals.
- Performance Management: Implement key performance metrics and KPIs, continuously monitoring operational efficiency and making data-backed recommendations to improve processes and profitability.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all operations comply with local regulations and standards, managing risk effectively and providing updates to senior leadership on potential operational or regulatory challenges.
- Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with senior management and shareholders to communicate operational strategies, progress, and challenges, ensuring alignment on the company’s goals and vision.
- Operational Leadership in Guinea: Oversee the company's operations in Guinea, ensuring business targets are met, and addressing any operational challenges in this key region. This will require frequent travel to manage local operations.
- Cross-Regional Collaboration: Foster a culture of collaboration and communication across teams in Singapore, Guinea, China, and Malaysia, ensuring that regional goals are aligned with overall business objectives.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a diverse team of operational managers and staff, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Oversee the operational budget, ensuring cost control measures are in place and regularly providing financial performance updates to senior management and shareholders.
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce operational costs, and enhance the customer experience.
- Expansion & Growth Support: Lead operational scalability efforts, overseeing the company’s expansion into new markets, facilities, and technologies to support business growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field; Master’s degree (MBA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.
- Proven track record of overseeing multi-location global operations, with a focus on scaling processes and driving operational efficiencies.
- Strong experience reporting to senior leadership and shareholders, with a solid understanding of operational finance and performance metrics.
- Ability to travel extensively, particularly to Guinea, and occasionally to China and Malaysia.
- Expertise in managing cross-functional teams in a multinational environment, with strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present operational strategies and updates clearly and persuasively to senior management and shareholders.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and managing operational costs.
- Proven ability to navigate regulatory environments and manage risk across multiple regions.
- Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with a focus on operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
Preferred:
- Experience in the tech industry or other fast-paced, rapidly scaling sectors.
- Prior experience managing operations in West Africa or other emerging markets.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French or Mandarin is a strong advantage.
