Job Summary:

The Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of project schedules for large-scale oil and gas projects. This role ensures that all project activities are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored, facilitating on-time and on-budget project delivery. The Planning Manager works closely with project managers, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to provide accurate project planning data and identify potential risks to project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and scheduling activities for all project phases, from conceptualization to completion.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules using industry-standard planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Ensure that project schedules are aligned with project objectives, milestones, and resource availability.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and other schedule assessments to identify risks and potential delays, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project progress, update schedules regularly, and provide detailed status reports to project management and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, procurement, construction) to gather input and ensure that all activities are accurately reflected in the project schedule.
  • Lead schedule review meetings and ensure that all parties understand schedule impacts and timelines.
  • Develop recovery plans when projects deviate from the baseline schedule.
  • Collaborate with cost control teams to ensure alignment between cost forecasts and schedule timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all company procedures and industry standards related to project planning and scheduling.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, critical path analysis, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing planning for large-scale projects, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex schedule data to various stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on proactive planning and issue resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
