Key Responsibilities:
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health Act (WSHA), Code of Practices (CP), and other relevant Singaporean regulations related to structural steel work.
- Enforce safety standards and practices on-site, conducting regular safety inspections and audits to identify risks and areas of non-compliance.
- Ensure that all workers, contractors, and visitors adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety protocols.
Risk Management:
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification for all steel-related operations, including heavy lifting, welding, installation, and scaffolding.
- Implement and monitor control measures to mitigate risks associated with working at height, moving steel components, and crane operations.
Training & Awareness:
- Organize and conduct safety orientation and training sessions for new employees and subcontractors.
- Keep the workforce informed of any updates in safety standards, policies, and emergency procedures.
Accident Investigation & Reporting:
- Investigate all workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit accident reports to regulatory bodies as required by law.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for steel structure erection and maintenance sites.
- Coordinate emergency drills to ensure workers are prepared for incidents like falls, fires, or equipment failures.
Safety Meetings:
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings to communicate potential risks and reinforce safety protocols.
- Attend project management and safety committee meetings to provide input on safety-related matters.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain up-to-date safety records, including training logs, inspection reports, and incident reports.
- Prepare and present weekly/monthly safety reports to the project management team.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health or equivalent.
- Recognized certification in safety supervision (e.g., Advanced Certificate in WSH or equivalent).
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a safety supervisor, preferably within the structural steel or construction industry.
- Proven track record of managing safety at steel erection or similar high-risk construction sites.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Singapore’s WSH regulations and codes of practice for structural steel works.
- Ability to perform safety risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively train and motivate workers.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
