About the Role:
This position is responsible for ensuring the profitable operation of managed and operated vessels, time charter-in tonnage, and contracts of affreightment. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of competitors and charterers' shipping needs within trade lanes, as well as commercially viable opportunities in new trade lanes. Key responsibilities include developing and executing a structured marketing plan for both existing and prospective customers. A significant deliverable is the execution of the 5-year and 1-year Strategic Business Plan and Budget for the designated trade.
Responsibilities:
- Plan vessel loading in relevant geographic areas to optimize coverage of COAs or spot commitments for both front haul and back haul legs, maximizing voyage returns.
- Negotiate optimal spot cargo rates, terms, and conditions to protect the principal's interests.
- Maintain up-to-date information on competitors’ schedules and activities in the region.
- Identify and develop key strategic accounts to enhance market positioning for the fleet.
- Identify new business opportunities, including but not limited to new COAs, time charters, and spot transactions.
- Build scalable relationships with both existing and potential customers.
- Minimize the Debtor List by ensuring that all receivables, such as outstanding freight, charter hire, and demurrage, are collected within the stipulated timeframe as per contract terms.
- Adhere to weekly, monthly, half-yearly, and yearly management reporting requirements.
- Supervise the preparation of documents related to voyage fixtures or contracts.
- Comply with the company's bills of lading documentation policy.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports to assess the overall performance of vessels.
- Create and update the maritime system following the conclusion of each fixture.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a brokering or shipping company.
- Expertise in tanker chartering and marketing.
- Experience with project and time-charter operations.
- Multilingual skills (spoken, read, and written) to facilitate communication with various counterparties.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with clients at all levels.
