Overview:
As a Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of audit engagements, ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit services. You will provide leadership throughout the audit process, from planning to execution and finalisation, and take full accountability for each engagement. You will closely monitor the budget and timeline of engagements, while developing and maintaining long-term client relationships.
In addition to leading audit engagements, you will offer technical expertise to ensure compliance with professional standards. You will also play an active role in professional development, including training, staff recruitment, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse portfolio of international and local clients, delivering quality audit and assurance services through effective planning, directing, and completion of audits.
- Guide and mentor your team members to achieve the same level of quality and professional excellence.
- Apply professional scepticism and exercise sound judgment when addressing critical technical issues during audit engagements.
- Proactively manage stakeholders’ expectations, monitor project timelines, and communicate engagement progress regularly.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in professional standards by attending relevant training sessions.
- Coach, motivate, and develop team members, fostering technical competencies through training and mentorship, in collaboration with the in-house technical and training teams.
- Manage staff performance, conduct performance reviews in a timely manner, and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with the business development team on pitches for new engagements.
- Work with the audit business support team to manage engagement financials, including budgeting, profitability, work-in-progress, billing, and collections.
- Facilitate effective communication across a cross-functional and culturally diverse team.
Requirements:
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, ACCA).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with an international accounting firm.
- Strong technical proficiency in SFRS/IFRS and SSA/ISA.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working efficiently at all levels.
- Strong ethical values, with respect for diversity and inclusion.
- Proactive, with a positive "can-do" attitude and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to stay updated with technological advancements.
