Job description
The Shipping Agency Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our client shipping agency, ensuring smooth coordination and execution of all shipping activities.
You will lead a team of staff in managing ship agency services, handling vessels' arrivals and departures, and liaising with ship owners, charterers, and other stakeholders.
Experience in bulk / general cargo operations / stevedoring experiences
Experience in bunkering services
Good relationship with general cargo related supplier for truck cranes, floating cranes, barges, etc.
This role requires a strategic mindset, a strong understanding of shipping operations, and exceptional leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate all aspects of shipping agency operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations
• Oversee vessel arrival and departure procedures, including port clearance, logistics, and documentation
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and addressing any issues that may arise
• Supervise and train agency staff, fostering a high-performance culture within the team
• Develop operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery
• Monitor and analyze operational performance, preparing reports and providing insights for continuous improvement
• Ensure timely communication and coordination with all stakeholders, including port authorities, customs, and service providers
• Manage budgets and financial forecasting for agency operations
Requirements
• Diploma in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in shipping agency operations or port management, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
• Extensive knowledge of shipping regulations, port operations, and agency services
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
