Lead Marine Engineer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Lead Marine Engineer reports to the Project Engineering Manager and shall be responsible for technical compliance with all design requirements and coordination with the necessary Client and Subcontractor’s discipline engineering professionals. The lead marine engineer shall ensure that all de-signs comply with the requirements of the Work; that all Work is efficiently and effectively executed in accordance with the criteria, specifications and standards listed in the CONTRACT; and that the designs comply with safe and reasonable standards as accepted within the offshore oil and gas industry. The Lead Marine Engineer shall be responsible for their scope of work as given below:

  • Review existing/donor vessel’s marine systems for conversion, refurbishment or upgrade as necessary.
  • Input to shipyard RLE specification/RFQ and coordinate with shipyards during bidding phase to provide clarification.
  • Ensure that technical compliance with all design requirements is met.
  • Interface with Client Marine Engineering team to resolve the technical issues.
  • Co-ordinate with Shipyard for timely delivery of the facilities.
  • Accountable for the quality engineering deliverables.
  • Provide engineering guidance to Contractors wherever is required.
  • Achieve safety standards as defined in Project requirements.
  • To achieve project completion to the project specifications on schedule.
  • Field Engineering support during construction phase of the project.
  • Coordinate with class for surveys and reviews related to shipyard work.
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties for monitoring and controls.
  • Commissioning and Start-Up support.
  • Support for Operating Manual Preparation.
  • Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project.

  • Environmental Aspects & Impacts Assessment.
  • OHS Hazardous & Risk Assessment.
  • Follow HSE Regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to commit to overseas project deployments (Dubai), on rotation basis, 1-3 months, depending on project requirements.
  • Minimum educational requirements of a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Marine engineering or equivalent.
  • Direct experience working on FPSO projects.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience, with Oil & Gas projects (fixed installations and FPSOs), with significant experience working as a Senior or Lead Marine Engineer.
  • Must have prior work experience with medium/ large sized brownfield and/or greenfield projects in the upstream Oil and Gas sector, in a similar role and possess a good understanding of project phases, milestones, deliverables, internal and external interfaces.
  • Shall be skilled with commonly used business software applications such MS Office, MS project and drafting software such as AutoCad.
  • Shall be capable of supporting the development and implementing recommendations from third party safety studies and workshops, including HAZID/ENVID, SIL Classifications, Smoke, Gas, Fire and Explosion Risk Analyses, QRA, ALARP assessments, Fire and Gas Mappings and Noise Studies.
  • A team player and able to collaborate with various units effectively.
