Position Overview: The Technical Assistant reports to Fleet manager and assists in maintaining and managing the technical operations of the fleet. This role involves assisting with ship maintenance, technical documentation, compliance, and liaising with various departments to ensure the efficient operation of vessels and assist Fleet manager with all administrative support including travel arrangements and related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support:
- Assist in the preparation and review of technical reports and maintenance records.
- Support the Fleet Manager in coordinating and monitoring the implementation of maintenance schedules and repair works.
- Help track and manage technical issues, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain and update technical documentation, including manuals, compliance certificates, and safety records.
- Ensure all vessel operations comply with relevant maritime regulations and industry standards.
- Assist in preparing documentation for inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Act as a liaison between ship management, crew, and shore-based technical teams.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for procurement of parts and services, if required.
- Organize and attend meetings related to technical matters and provide necessary support.
- Data Management:
- Assist in managing and analyzing technical data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Support the development and implementation of technical procedures and best practices.
- Emergency Response:
- Provide support during emergency situations, including technical breakdowns or incidents, and assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:Previous experience in ship management, marine engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of shipboard systems and technical operations.
- Proficiency in technical documentation and data management.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Certifications:Relevant maritime certifications or qualifications are a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Work Environment: Office-based with occasional visits to ships or shipyards.
