Job Description

Bright Path Inclusive Preschool is hiring! We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Occupational Therapist to join our team.

As a Preschool Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting children across different programs with diverse needs and facilitating their developmental growth. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with educators, conducting assessments, developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and monitoring student progress.



Job Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with educators and provide input for the creation of IEPs and follow-up goals to ensure continuity in children’s support and development.
  • Prepare testimonials with the team that details the child's progress over the course of their IEP for graduating children or children transiting to external programs.
  • Record and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of children’s progress, including observations, assessments, and interventions.
  • Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs) two times a year to discuss children’s progress and goals with parents and/or external stakeholders.
  • Attend to ad-hoc parent-child meetings, revolving child’s abilities and development
  • Plan and execute lessons in collaboration with class educators to address each child's IEP goals, ensuring their inclusion and active participation in classroom activities.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and explore different groupings, such as 1:1, paired, or group teaching, based on class dynamics to maximize each student's learning potential.
  • Guide the trans-disciplinary team through co-planning for early childhood educators to apply therapy strategies or interventions that address emotional, learning, and behavioural needs specific to the child.
  • Conduct staff and parent training/workshops where required.
  • Offer consultation services to the trans-disciplinary team.
  • Provide consultation and training for caregivers and early childhood educators to equip them with effective strategies.
  • Conduct formal and informal assessments, including standardized tests but not limited to, such as Sensory Profiling, BOT 2 for gross motor skills and Beery VMI for fine motor skills. These assessments, along with other relevant assessments, will help gain a holistic understanding of each child's abilities and inform intervention strategies.
  • Foster knowledge transfer by sharing effective strategies, techniques, and accommodations with class educators to promote generalization of skills in daily classroom routines.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Full time registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) in Singapore as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Have preferably at least one year of experience working with young children in an early intervention or pediatric setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development and typical milestones.
  • Familiarity with assessments and interventions specific to early intervention, such as Sensory Profiling, BOT 2 for gross motor skills and Beery VMI for fine motor skills.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop individualized intervention plans, and provide therapy services to children and their families.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with families, educators, and other professionals.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with current research and best practices in early intervention.
