RESPONSIBILITIES
Department
The Finance department is responsible for all key financial matters affecting the company and for the design, implementation, maintenance and operation of financial processes and internal controls.
The Finance department is accountable for the management and oversight of the following functions:
- Settlements
- General Accounting
- Consolidation Reporting
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Tax
Key roles and responsibilities
- Managing the quarterly reporting to the main shareholder, JERA in Japan
- Working closely with the Principal Accountant to prepare the consolidation pack and ensuring proper translation of some schedules in Japanese before sending to JERA
- Working on a new accounting system project with JERA by collaborating with Japanese IT vendor and accounting professionals in Japan
- Overseeing the investment holding company in Singapore: JERA Trading International (JERATI)
- Managing the quarterly consolidation under JERATI and the reporting to JERA Japan
- Overseeing the JERA GM's LNG operations subsidiary: JERA GM Japan and liaising with the external service provider for the monthly reporting and the payments
- Working closely with the auditors for the JERA Group Audit and managing the JERATI audit
- Managing the J-SOX (Japanese internal control) requirements from JERA
- Involvement in initiatives to drive and improve processes
- Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with trading standards and other compliance requirements
- Collaborate with other professional and lead to support overall Finance goals and objectives
- Work outside of normal business hours may be required at times
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accountancy
- Must have at least 7 years of relevant working experience in Finance and Accounting with at least a year of experience as a financial/accounting specialist in the electric power industry in Japan. This is to manage the integrated reporting to JERA, our shareholder, for the upcoming Power Trading business, in JERAGM
- Written and verbal fluency in Japanese (JLPT N1) or similar, is a must as the candidate has to manage Japanese speaking stakeholders both at working and management levels
- Strong accounting background is a must, ideally with derivative accounting in the commodity trading business
- Sun, Horizon and DIVA (consolidated accounting system) experience is an advantage
- Good IT and spreadsheet skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and strong self-initiative
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work well under time pressure
- Hands-on, analytical, strong attention to details and conscientious
- Good verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with people at all levels
- Collaborative and strong team player
