We seek a passionate research engineer to work on the development of novel ultrathin liquid metal oxides for applications in two-dimensional material heterostructure nano-electronics. This project aims to develop scalable techniques to create atomically smooth dielectric interfaces with 2D semiconductors to enable next-generation devices.
Job Description:
- Synthesize and characterize novel liquid metal based ultrathin 2D oxides.
- Fabricate, and measure electronic and quantum devices using 2D materials, such as field effect transistors, tunnelling transistors, and gate-defined quantum dots.
- Optimize and document fabrication recipes and material processing capabilities within the research group.
- Prototype, upgrade, and customize experimental setups.
- Ensuring experimental systems are serviceable through regular maintenance.
- Automate measurements and analyze data.
- Assist in filing technology disclosures and technical documentation.
- Assist in preparing manuscripts for publication.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, applied physics/chemistry or related fields.
- Experience with gloveboxes and cleanrooms.
- Experience with deposition equipment such as atomic layer deposition and thermal evaporation.
- Experience with 2D material synthesis, processing, and stacking.
- Knowledge of basic programming languages such as Python.
- Strong team player.
- Resourceful in problem solving.
- Meticulous and analytical in experimental work.
