In-house Legal Counsel (PRC Qualified)
Our client, a leading FI is seeking an in-house Legal Counsel with PRC legal qualification to join their legal team. The successful candidate will provide legal expertise on cross-border banking transactions, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance, with a focus on legal issues relating to China.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer comprehensive legal support and counsel to the bank on matters relating to PRC law, including banking regulations, financial services, and corporate governance.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements including loan agreements, credit facilities, security documents, and other financial and banking-related documents, particularly in cross-border transactions with Chinese clients or counterparts.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate legal risks related to the bank’s operations in China, including the management of disputes and potential litigation involving PRC law.
- Manage disputes and litigation involving the bank’s operations in China, working with external counsel when necessary to ensure successful resolution of legal matters.
- Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions for business units on legal requirements, regulatory developments, and best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university. PRC legal qualification (Bar admission) is required (focus on legal issues relating to China). Additional international qualifications (e.g., LLM, foreign bar admission) are a plus.
- Min 2 years of PQE in banking and finance law
