Role:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with marine engines, auxiliary engines, steering systems, and other related components.
- Carry out repairs on inboard and outboard engines, including work on fuel, cooling, and exhaust systems.
- Perform routine maintenance to ensure all shipboard systems are functioning properly.
- Maintain cleanliness of the ship and engine room while onboard.
- Provide detailed reports on work performed and communicate the nature of repairs and services to customers.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to marine services and repairs.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of all services performed, including time spent, parts used, and labor involved.
- Use service management software to log and track repairs and maintenance tasks.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other technicians and service team members to ensure efficient workflow and high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in marine mechanics or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in marine service and repair.
- Strong mechanical skills and ability to solve problems.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and marine service equipment.
- Knowledge of marine engines, auxiliary engines, and cargo pumps.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
- Capable of lifting heavy objects, working in various weather conditions, and performing physically demanding tasks.
