Assistant Accounting Manager – Trading Company

Role Summary:

We are seeking an Assistant Accounting Manager with a proactive mindset to join our dynamic team in the trading industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing payments, ensuring timely financial closures, and maintaining compliance with internal controls. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to mentor a talented accounting team, streamline processes for greater efficiency, and work closely with stakeholders across Asia Pacific to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payments & Approvals: Oversee the co-approval of payments and related tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency while constantly improving processes to stay agile and effective.
  • Financial Closures: Lead monthly and quarterly closing activities, approving journal entries and ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Compliance Leadership: Act as the primary PIC for J-SOX and GST compliance, facilitating smooth audit processes and ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and support your accounting team, fostering growth while driving improvements in daily tasks related to payments and journal entries.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Establish trusted partnerships with business and corporate divisions, providing proactive financial insights to support key initiatives.
  • Project Management: Take ownership of key departmental projects, independently driving them to successful completion with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency.

What We're Looking For:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
  • 7+ years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 3 years of experience in a senior review or approval role.
  • Expertise in SAP and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • A proactive approach to process improvement and experience leading projects.
  • Experience with automation tools like Power Automate is a bonus.
