Be a product owner of POET’s optical engine transmit modules; reports to the Vice President of New Product Development Department. He / She owns the transmit optical engine product from conception, development and through its life cycle. He / She will work together with multi-functional teams within the organisation and partners to ensure product performance and production yield.
Responsibilities:
Product Strategy:
- Work with Sales and Marketing to determine the product requirements needed to fulfil customer and market needs.
- Develop and manage product requirement documents.
Product Development and Introduction:
- Execute product development by utilising and implementing organisation’s product development processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to develop new products.
- Ensure products meet technical specifications and quality standards.
- Define manufacturing strategy, test requirements and flow to achieve productivity, yield and quality goals.
- Data compilation and analysis of test data collected by engineering and production teams, driving yield improvements by identifying root cause of failures and working with other teams to address gaps.
- Ensure the generation and release of documents for the products required by organisation’s product development phase gates process.
- Own the success of the product by managing lifecycle from concept to launch
Market Analysis:
- Analyse competitor products and market conditions.
- Identify opportunities for product differentiation and innovation.
Customer Engagement:
- Work closely with sales and marketing teams to promote semiconductor laser products including writing and managing product datasheets and providing information to support making sales collaterals.
- Gather and analyse customer feedback to inform product improvements.
- Provide technical support and training to sales teams and customers.
Project Management:
- Work closely with project manager to ensure the following,
- Ensure timely delivery of products and work tasks within budget constraints.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Prioritise company resources to achieve project goals.
Experience, Skillsets and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 5+ years’ proven product development and manufacturing experience in a relevant industry, preferably in the semiconductor or laser industry.
- Experience in semiconductor device packaging is preferred.
- Experience with optical transceivers for communications and market dynamics is preferred.
- Knowledge of laser characterisation is a must.
- Proficiency in programming, collecting and analysing large data sets utilising Excel is a minimum. JMP, Python, C/C++, Tibco, R, Matlab and labview are preferred.
- Proficiency to draw mask layouts (i.e. K Layout, Layout editor) is preferred.
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as Lumerical FDTD, RSoft, Crosslight, ZEMAX and Solidworks are preferred.
- Strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
