JOB SUMMARY

At YMCA of Singapore, the International Service Programmes department collaborates with our regional partners to reach out to underprivileged communities in developing countries through development projects which focus on infrastructure, healthcare, sustainability and education. Each year, more than 1,200 youths are empowered to be community champions through one of the many projects carried out in countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and more.

You will lead the youths to participate and contribute as community champions in assigned development projects. You will pave the way for smooth project execution, community engagement and leadership development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and connect assets to develop and sustain partnerships with overseas partners, to co-create and curate service-learning opportunities.
  • Coach, mentor and assess student leaders, enabling the students to meet the learning objectives specific to the overseas service-learning experience.
  • Guide the volunteers for each phase of the YEP journey and coordinate collaborations between the volunteers and overseas host partners.
  • Design, develop and conduct risk assessment, and ascertain that the trips/environment are safe and conducive.
  • Coach, manage and develop the ISP staff team, empower them to take responsibility for their jobs and goals.
  • Manage the administrative duties (data management, budget, procurement etc) generated in fulfillment of the scope stated above.
  • Travel is expected.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in any related field from a recognized University
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in youth engagement or community development
  • Passion for working with students and community. Able to build rapport, motivate and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong experience in asset-based approaches to Service-Learning and Community Engagement, Volunteer Management and Student Leadership Development.
  • A resourceful team player with initiative and interpersonal skills, and ability to build partnerships and relationships in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Able to work well with others in a deadline-driven team environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience in teaching, curriculum design and development will be an added advantage.
