The J.P. Morgan Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Events team works in partnership with all lines of business to plan, execute and support primarily clients, and some internal conferences and events.
Event teams are located in key markets in APAC, EMEA, NA and LatAm and comprise experienced event professionals with the specialized expertise and supplier relationships to execute events to the highest standard while closely managing costs.
As part of the Strategic Event Marketing team based in Singapore, the successful candidate will work with senior management, manager and colleagues on all event-related responsibilities from inception to execution, including event plans, venue research, event proposals, budget management and event-related reporting. The successful candidate will have significant exposure and interaction with senior management, will be required to have a thorough understanding of business strategy and goals, and be equipped with strategic, financial and project management skills to support the firm to increase client business/deepen existing client relationships. The successful candidate will also be expected to partner effectively with colleagues at all levels and from other functions including Lines of Businesses, Legal, Compliance, Marketing & Communications teams, sales & bankers, product partners and senior management.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead event initiatives in the region, partnering with lines of businesses, marketing and functions to develop impactful events aligned to business strategy
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with confidence in being an ambassador to internal clients. Ability to interact, influence and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and across Lines of Businesses
- Hands-on self-starter with strong project management and team player skills, and flexibility to support team members with their events and also manage an event on an end-to-end basis. Candidate must be detail-oriented and able to prioritize and simultaneously manage multiple tasks
- Manage external vendors and venues as well as the end-to-end process of event planning, ranging from event briefs, research, approvals, invitee & speaker management, venue set-up, event design, onsite support, production management (audio-visual, virtual event management), budget management and post-event analysis.
- Adhere to internal policies and procedures with regards to reporting activities and spend, compliance regulations, approval processes and ensuring appropriate documentation is in place
- Accurately maintain Events database which includes (but is not limited to) event metrics, budgets, invoicing, ticketing and event collateral
The ideal candidate:
- Degree in Events, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Hotel Management, or a related degree is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in event planning and management/execution, preferably in the financial services industry
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and project management skills with the ability to confidently lead and manage events on an end-to-end basis
- Client-focused, highly organized and process-oriented with the ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines
- Confidence to be an ambassador to internal management with the ability to forge strong relationships, interact, influence and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and across Lines of Businesses
- Ability to work both autonomously and as a team player with proven ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and accurate manner. Effectively collaborate with team members, vendors and internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent English oral and written communications skills with a high level of attention to detail. Mandarin proficiency would be an advantage
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and must be savvy with technology
- Periodic after-hours work will be required
- Periodic travel within Asia Pacific may be required
