Job Title: Goldsmith
Salary: $4,200-$5,000
Position: Full-time
Job Scope:
· Heat and melt jewellery materials; pour in moulds to cast jewellery models
· Use jewellery-making material such as spanners, pliers or presses
· Smoothen rough parts of pieces of jewellery using hand files and emery paper.
· Create pieces of jewellery using precious materials such as silver and gold
· Heat, melt and shape metals for jewellery making
· Apply techniques and use technologies in relation to the various smithing processes, including sculpting, forging, upsetting, heat treating, and finishing
· Select and purchase gems to use in jewellery pieces and designs
· Select and purchase precious metals and alloys to use in jewellery pieces
· Construct preliminary jewel models using wax, plaster or clay.
· Create sample castings in moulds
· Operate cutting and measuring instruments in order to cut/shape pieces of metal into given dimensions
· Develop new jewellery designs and products, and modify existing designs
Job Requirements:
· Diploma or equivalent in related field
· Candidates without formal qualifications but possessing over 5 years of relevant experience will be taken into consideration
· Proven work experience in a jewellery setting
· Team work
· An individual who is trustworthy when dealing with jewellery
· The ability to work autonomously
· Willing to learn new things
· Required to work 6 days’ work week and able to work on weekends and Public Holidays
· Wiling to Travel
