This position reports to the Business Analyst Head. The key role is doing the bridging between business problems and technology solutions, providing key insights that drive process improvements and system efficiencies within organizations. You need to analyse business needs, document requirements, user stories, business process flows and translate them into system specifications that IT technical teams can implement. This role is critical in ensuring that technology initiatives align with business strategies and add value by enhancing performance and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Understanding and documenting the business requirements of stakeholders to guide the creation of effective technology solutions
- Translating business needs into system requirements and ensuring that these are clearly communicated to IT solutions architect or system analyst teams
- Conducting thorough business process analysis to identify areas for improvement and optimization
- Provide wireframe of the new systems, including documenting the user stories
- Facilitating communication between business units and IT teams to ensure mutual understanding and project alignment
- Developing and executing test plans to ensure that systems and processes are functioning as intended
- Creating detailed reports by gathering, analysing, and summarizing data and trends
- Providing training and support to users on new or updated systems and processes
- Managing project timelines, resources to ensure that business goals are met
- Monitoring system performance post-implementation and resolving any issues that arise
- Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and business strategies to recommend innovative solutions
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in system design and implementation
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or relevant field.
- A minimum of 3 years’ hand-on experience as a business systems analyst.
Technical Skills
- Systems Knowledge: Understanding various operating systems and databases
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with software development practices and software like SQL and PostgreSQL databases, ERP systems, and business intelligence applications.
- Data Analysis: Skills in data analysis and modelling tools are crucial. Knowledge of analytics software, such as Microsoft Excel, Tableau, or Power BI, can be particularly beneficial.
- Programming: While not always mandatory, programming languages like SQL, Java, or Python can be advantageous.
Business Skills
- Business Knowledge: Strong grasp of business processes and how different departments function.
- Project Management: Experience with project management methodologies like Agile or Scrum. Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) can be a plus.
- Problem-solving: Analysing problems, proposing solutions, and effectively communicating their benefits and implications.
- Documentation: Skill in documenting functional specification, user stories and business processes and as well as creating wireframe using Figma
Soft Skills
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to work collaboratively across different teams and with various stakeholders.
