As a Banking and Financial Services Recruitment Specialist, I partner with a range of Banking AND Financial Services clients who are consistently seeking Bankers, Financial Advisors/Consultants, and Wealth Planners.


In general, both Personal Bankers and Financial Advisors offer similar services:

  • They provide guidance to clients, aiming to improve their financial health and achieve specific goals, such as Savings, Investment Growth, Retirement Planning, and more
  • They interact regularly with clients, often needing to explain complex financial products and services in simple terms and provide exceptional customer service to build trust

Core Differences between being a Personal Banker and Financial Advisor:

1) Remuneration

  • FA = Self-Employed receiving Commissions (higher income ceiling) with Allowance/Incentive scheme available
  • Bank = Full-time Permanent Employment which offers Basic Salary + Comms (stable base with opportunity to earn more)

2) Client Acquisition

  • FA = Roadshow, Events + Social Media + Cold Calling (clients sourced by agency or individual FA) + Warm Market (family/friends)
  • Bank = Branch Walk-Ins + Cold Calling (500-600 assigned clients)

3) Products

  • FA = Full suite of Insurance Products + Funds + Other services
  • Bank = Majority of Insurance Products (excl. Health Insurance) + Funds + Secondary Banking products (but no revenue generated)

4) Minimum Education Requirements

  • FA: Minimum GCE ‘A’ Levels, or Diploma from a local polytechnic, and above
  • Bank: Diploma from a local polytechnic, or Degree of any discipline, and above

  • Singaporeans Only (candidates who require Work Visa need not apply)
  • Pass all Core CMFAS papers before commencement (guidance provided)
