As we expand our creative team, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Financial Controller to join our Singapore Studio.
Who are we looking for:
Commercial Management:
- Provide proactive financial insights and analysis to ensure transparency around business performance, minimizing surprises by keeping management well-informed of financial trends and risks.
- Oversee the monthly review of Master Account Plans, ensuring that financial and other KPIs are tracked against budget and forecast, driving performance improvements where necessary.
- Work closely with the MD and senior client service teams to manage profitability and revenue streams, ensuring alignment with the agency's strategic goals.
- Collaborate with client service teams to translate business ideas into financial plans and projections, offering support on how to best meet these goals.
- Lead efforts to optimize cost spending and maximize revenue, identifying key business drivers and developing financial models that support growth.
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes across all studios and the Holmes & Marchant network, ensuring both short-term and medium-term goals are achieved.
- Monitor client profitability and ensure optimal utilization of resources, overseeing inter-office resource sharing and aligning with the collaborative "One Elmwood" culture.
Financial Operations:
- Stewardship of local finance and management accounting, overseeing all finance functions for Singapore Studio
- Lead monthly financial reporting processes, preparing full P&L, balance sheet, and working capital reports to ensure timely and accurate financial insights.
- Manage the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes, working with HR, IT, Client Services, and Creative teams, as well as HQ and regional colleagues. This includes:
- Annual budgeting and long-term financial planning
- Bi-weekly cashflow forecasting
- Weekly revenue pipeline tracking
- Monthly and quarterly P&L forecasting
- Ensure sufficient working capital by managing debtor settlements, timely billing, and advance payments from customers where possible.
- Track and monitor actual financial performance against budgets, identify opportunities and risks, and propose solutions where necessary.
Audit, Tax & Compliance:
- Oversee the audit process for all Singapore-based entities, ensuring readiness and full compliance with statutory and internal requirements.
- Manage tax computations, compliance, and submissions, ensuring all statutory obligations are met.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including reporting obligations to statutory bodies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external auditors, tax agents, and legal firms to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
- Ad-hoc Initiatives:
- Support the company’s growth by contributing to additional financial initiatives as the business expands, including process improvements and new project evaluations.
What you have done:
- Extensive experience in senior finance roles, preferably within creative services, marketing, or people-focused industries.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to influence and collaborate across senior leadership teams.
- Proven ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for business leaders.
