Global Trade Solutions comprises over 4,500 people across more than 60 countries, helping suppliers and buyers with their export and import finance needs. Trade is where HSBC began in 1865, when we financed commerce between Europe, North America and Asia.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Vice President, Sales, Global Banking - Global Trade Solutions (GTS).
Principal Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of GTS clients with presence in Singapore to provide solutions and GTS structures that meet the client’s trade and working capital needs
- Establish new client relationships and strengthen existing ones by originating and executing sales strategy in conjunction with regional and country stakeholders
- Execute a robust growth plan to target new customers (New to Bank and New to Trade) for the GTS business including all facets of originating and executing GTS deals to draw down and revenue growth
- Proactively identify core & structured trade finance opportunities and lead RFPs and client pitches and recommending innovative trade finance solutions that meet client objectives
- Devise client plans and strategies to identify sales opportunities, as well as increasing revenue for existing ones to achieve asset growth, sales or revenue targets
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, which may include relationship mangers and product specialists, to maximise cross-selling opportunities for the bank
- Work with Client Implementation Services in a timely fashion to ensure an efficient transition process for complex clients
- Develop and drive changes and improvements to operating models, procedures and practices based on subject matter expertise and understanding of HSBC and market best practice
- Participating in events, initiatives, and activities to develop business opportunities
- Protecting the bank's reputation and ensuring an acceptable risk profile whilst deepening your understanding of the client through credit and customer due diligence reviews
- Support achievement of the HSBC vision, Values, goals and culture in personal behaviour, actions and decision making
- Manage & Partner with Relationship Managers on all credit risk matters including credit assessment/commitment/returns
- Assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions and showcase due consideration of bank’s reputation and objectives
- Communicate and adhere to HSBC policy and procedures in order to ensure good operational, financial and, policy and procedural compliance and early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise
Qualifications
- University degree holder (Finance, Business or related discipline) with minimum 5 years of experience in trade finance industry in front line roles
- Good client network and track record of trade finance sales. Proven Track record of leading trade finance transactions for large global clients
- Extensive knowledge of global trade solutions, services, products and techniques
- Significant solution providing or structuring experience with strong understanding of trade finance & working capital management
- Strong financial and analytical skills with good problem analysis (identifying problems, recognising important information, establishing connections and providing solutions)
- Recognized as a Trade Finance specialist with ability to display in depth knowledge and understand the risk profile of relevant products and services, and act as the lead for opportunities with clients and internal stakeholder
- Ability to interact with business customers at all levels
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- A collaborative team player, who can work on a self-directed basis, and balance multiple diverse priorities and stakeholders
- Strong independent contributor, who is comfortable working on multiple assignments, where the teams will often be distributed across the globe and culturally diverse
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and the ability to deliver compelling presentations
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Power Point and use of market platforms like Bloomberg SCF functions
