Job Description:
- Acts as the first point of contact or link between the Office and the Masters of the ships under his care.
- Provide navigational and operational information and support to the ship staff.
- Conduct scheduled Navigation, Mooring, Cargo and Bunker audit and internal audits to ensure alignment with the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Carry out ship inspections, which will include a minimum of one port or sailing visit on board with the associated reports.
- Ensure the efficient and satisfactory performance of the ships to meet charterers’ requirements.
- Assist in the selection of suitable Master, deck officers and ratings for ships under his care.
- Monitor and assess the work performance of Master, deck officers to cultivate a high-performing culture.
- Attend to Oil Major’s vetting requirements of ships under his care.
- Plan, coordinate and attend to new-building, delivery and sale of ships as and when required.
- Understand the relevant rules, regulations, codes and guidance that relate to the job description of each rank.
- Prepare, implement and monitor Deck Maintenance Programs (PMS-Deck).
- Prepare and monitor the budget, expenses, purchases and cost control relating to the deck department.
- Promote the health and welfare of ship staff.
- Carry out other ad hoc duties assigned by the Management.
Job Requirements:
- Possess Certificate of Competency (Master – Unlimited with dangerous cargo endorsement (Oil & Chemical).
- Preferably to have 2 years experiences as Master in Tanker vessel and relevant shore based experience.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Able and willing to travel overseas to visit or sail with company vessels or other assigned vessels as and when required.
