Job Description: Building Draughtsman

Position Overview:The Building Draughtsman is responsible for creating detailed drawings and plans for construction projects. This role involves translating architectural and engineering concepts into technical drawings that ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Drawing Creation:Prepare detailed architectural and structural drawings using CAD software.
   Produce construction documents, including plans, sections, elevations, and details.
   
2. Collaboration:Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements.
   Revise drawings based on feedback from team members and clients.
   
3. Compliance and Standards:Ensure all drawings comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
   Stay updated on changes to building regulations and practices.
   
4. Documentation Management:Maintain accurate records of drawings, revisions, and project documents.
   Organize and manage drawing files for easy access and reference.
   
5. Site Visits:Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project requirements.
   Liaise with construction teams to clarify design intent and resolve issues.
   
6. 3D Modeling:Develop 3D models of buildings and structures to visualize designs and facilitate communication.
   Utilize BIM (Building Information Modeling) software when applicable.
   
7. Presentation:Assist in preparing presentations and visual materials for client meetings and project proposals.
   Provide clear explanations of designs and technical aspects to non-technical stakeholders.
   

Requirements:

Education:

• Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Drafting, or a related field.

Experience:

• Proven experience as a draughtsman in the construction or architectural industry (typically 3+ years).
• Familiarity with various building types and construction methods.

Skills:

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and other design tools.
• Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Certifications (optional but beneficial):

• Certification in CAD software or architectural drafting.
• Membership in professional organizations (e.g., AIA, CADAA).
