Responsibilities
Network Design and Implementation:
· Design and implement scalable and resilient network architectures, including LAN, WAN, and data center networks.
· Configure and deploy network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN concentrators.
· Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define network design standards, and implement solutions based on best practices.
· Network Optimization and Performance Monitoring:
· Monitor network performance, traffic patterns, and bandwidth utilization using network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.).
· Identify performance bottlenecks, analyze network metrics, and implement optimizations to improve overall network efficiency.
· Conduct capacity planning and scalability assessments to accommodate future growth and business requirements.
Network Security and Compliance:
· Implement and manage network security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and access control lists (ACLs).
· Perform regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to ensure network integrity and compliance with security policies.
· Develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Network Troubleshooting and Incident Response:
· Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex network issues, including network outages, connectivity problems, and performance degradation.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve network-related incidents, following established escalation procedures.
· Participate in on-call rotations or after-hours support as needed to address critical network emergencies.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
· Maintain comprehensive network documentation including network diagrams, configurations, change logs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Share technical knowledge and best practices with team members, conduct training sessions, and contribute to knowledge base articles.
· Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in networking to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
· 5+ years of experience in network engineering, design, and implementation in enterprise environments.
· Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS, VPNs, and QoS.
· Hands-on experience with network equipment from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, etc.
· Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools for performance analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting.
· Experience with network security practices, including firewall rules, VPN configurations, and security policies.
· Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
· Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members, stakeholders, and vendors.
