Morgan McKinley is seeking a Finance Operations Manager (Financial Industry) for a 12 month contract assignment with a possibility to extend or to go perm!
Key Responsibilities:
- Remediate issues arising from balance sheet substantiation and reconciliation reviews.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the quality of data flowing into the general ledger.
- Support the VP in implementing processes that embed First Line of Defense (FLOD) roles and responsibilities.
- Work with the Finance Management team to understand risks and support Assurance Reviews to ensure coverage of key controls.
- Enhance the monthly financial closure process, improve month-end journal entry controls, and identify opportunities to reduce closure time.
- Support the integration of the new policy administration system (PAS) with the General Ledger, review UAT results, and address finance operations process gaps and control findings.
- Evaluate changes to finance operations processes due to PAS integration and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accordingly.
- Oversee direct control improvements related to premium and policy transactions.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls, document processes, obtain necessary approvals, and implement changes.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of end-user controls (EUCs) annually.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of finance operations experience with a relevant finance qualification.
- Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is preferred.
- Strong understanding of finance risk management frameworks, including operational risk policies and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
- Ability to provide structured solutions to complex problems and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
- Proven multitasking skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Hands-on experience with managing ERP or GL system changes is a distinct advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to simplify complex ideas.
