The Senior Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support and guidance to our Southeast Asia region and Pakistan, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. This role involves advising on a wide range of legal matters, including contracts, regulatory compliance, labor and environmental law. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate law and experience in working for large multi-national companies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal advice to the management team on various legal issues, including
corporate governance, contracts, regulatory compliance and labor law.
• Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements related to agricultural
operations, including supplier agreements, land leases, and partnership contracts.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company’s operations comply with all relevant regulations, including
environmental laws and agricultural policies.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with the company’s operations and strategic
initiatives.
• Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
Managing and liaison with external counsel and related administration of legal vendors.
• Training & Development: Ability to travel within the region to conduct training sessions for employees on
legal topics relevant to the agriculture industry, such as compliance, contract management, and intellectual
property.
• Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to
ensure legal compliance and best practices.
• Collaboration: Build partnerships and contribute as a member of cross functional teams in supporting
business goals/initiatives.
• Stay Updated: Proactively and on a continuous basis gain knowledge and provide guidance on new
legislations impacting current and future business strategies, plans and legal technology.
• Ethics & Compliance: Support the Company ethics and compliance policies and programs.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• Education: Law degree from an accredited law school.
• Experience: Minimum of 10-12 years of post-qualification experience as a legal counsel, preferably in a large multi-national company and/or top tier law firm.
• Licensure: Licensed to practice law in Singapore.
• Technology: Familiarity with legal technology such as ONIT, NetDocs, CLM.
• Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical legal
solutions.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with agricultural laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of intellectual property law.
• Certification in compliance or risk management.
