Purpose of Role

Lead the strategy, growth & financial results for the financial lines portfolio in Singapore, drive some of the facility intiatives in the team.



Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

· Responsible for underwriting of insurance products and growing the portfolio of the Financial Lines business including but not limited to Directors and Officers Liability, Professional Indemnity, Medical Malpractice, Crime, Cyber, Financial Institutions Insurance for SMD clients

· Maintain profitable renewal accounts as well as assist in the achievement of financial plans and business strategies to ensure profitable growth for Financial Lines

· Drive new business through active prospecting, broker engagement, cross-selling, and other strategic initiatives

· Ensure that systems are updated with the correct data, maintain rates adequacy, rates validation and uphold our Underwriting philosophy

· Be a mentor to the Underwriters, Assistant Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants across Financial Lines as a product as well as the multi-line SMD team along the way

· Perform ad hoc projects and other related duties as assigned



Skills & Experience

  1. Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Business Degree, relevant Insurance qualifications or equivalent
  2. Demonstrated underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 3-5 years’ underwriting experience or equivalent industry experience.
  3. Proven track record of business development and achieving profitable revenue growth
  4. Stakholder management experience and the ability to manage matrix reporting lines
  5. Relationship Management: Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strong relationships with distribution partners such as brokers, agents, and intermediaries. Track record of effectively managing key accounts, negotiating terms and conditions, and delivering exceptional service to clients
  6. Risk Assessment Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess risks accurately, identify potential exposures, and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Experience in conducting thorough risk inspections and effectively communicating risk-related information to stakeholders
  7. Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective interaction with internal teams, external partners, and clients. Collaborative mindset to work cross-functionally with colleagues in product development, claims, and other departments to deliver comprehensive solutions and support to clients
