Magnequench (MQ) is the preferred magnetic solutions provider in the bonded NdFeB magnet industry manufacturing and selling magnetic powder and polymer bonded magnets throughout Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. Our products are used to provide high performance magnetics for automotive, media storage, appliance industries and various other industries.
Recently MQ is expanding its product portfolio to include NdFeB sintered magnets. The Magnequench Technology team in Singapore is driving the technology development for this activity and is looking for a R&D Scientist/Engineer to join our team to develop high-performance NdFeB sintered magnets. Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Device and evaluate suitable process steps to improve current NdFeB performance
- Lead, plan and execute R&D projects on NdFeB sintered magnets
- Lead the tech transfer activities to the Narva pilot line and provide tech support to mass production
- Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams involving engineering and R&D at manufacturing locations and regional sales managers.
- Provide technical supervision to associate scientists/engineers.
- Document all phases of assigned projects; write complete reports.
- Assist in preparing patent applications/publications/meeting presentations/knowledge notes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
- Conduct other work as required in Materials and Magnetics Laboratories.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. degree (preferred) or master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Physics, with thesis in permanent magnetic materials (preferred in NdFeB sintered magnet and GBD)
- 3-5 years of post-graduate research experience, preferably in permanent magnets related fields.
- Knowledge of NdFeB permanent magnets and their processing-microstructure-property relationship.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of all relevant test, analytical and processing equipment
- Hands-on experimental skills in NdFeB permanent magnets synthesis including strip casting, HD, sintering and GBD
- Knowledge and hands-on experience of relevant measurement techniques
- Ability to analyse and work through technical and/or scientific problems.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in leading a project team
- Ability to work across different cultures
