This organisation is a prestigious Protection & Indemnity (P&I) Club with a global presence, providing risk management and insurance services to the marine shipping and logistics industry. The Singapore office is the regional HQ for the Asia-Pacific region, and requires an experienced Marine Transport and Logistics Underwriter to join the team.
Job Overview:
The Marine Transport and Logistics Underwriter manages underwrites marine transport and logistics risks. You will work closely with brokers, shipowners, freight forwarders and logistics providers to assess risks, develop tailored solutions, and ensure that the Club's portfolio is well-managed in line with risk appetite. The ideal candidate should have strong technical underwriting skills, an in-depth understanding of P&I coverage, and knowledge of the logistics industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite and assess risks in marine transport, logistics, and associated liabilities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, shipowners, and clients.
- Develop tailored insurance solutions to meet clients' needs while maintaining the Club’s risk appetite.
- Ensure proper documentation, including policy wording and coverage details.
- Analyse market trends and developments in marine insurance and logistics to provide strategic advice.
- Collaborate with other departments such as claims, loss prevention, and legal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and market outreach.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business, or related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marine underwriting, specifically in transport and logistics.
- Strong knowledge of P&I insurance and the global shipping industry.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Proven experience managing client relationships and delivering exceptional service.
- Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
