Finance Department
Finance Department (FD) is responsible for financial management of the GIC group. We support the GIC Group in Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Governance, Financial Reporting, Accounting Operations, and Treasury & Cash Management. We are a strategic partner to the departments in GIC and supports their operations, growth and competitiveness through our financial expertise and data-driven insights. We also harness data and technology to achieve excellence in financial operations.
What impact can you make in this role?
We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Global Accounting Operations team with the Finance Department. The candidate is responsible for the accounting of the corporate legal entities ensuring that they comply with in-country statutory and tax regulations and enterprise policy and procedures. The candidate is also responsible for leading change management to drive transformational impact in our function to improve efficiency, effectiveness and strategic alignment.
What will you do as an AVP in the Global Accounting Operations team?
Accounting & Operations
- Performing accounting and close process execution that include the preparation of reporting packages, analysis of accounting schedules and explain variances on the financial statements.
- Liaising with external auditors in annual statutory audit procedures to meet reporting timeline.
- Addressing stakeholder queries and handling operational issues from both internal and external parties.
- Developing user-friendly procedures, guides and documentation, and providing training and guidance to end-users.
- Supporting system implementation to meet new accounting and business requirements.
Process Improvement
- Identifying and optimizing finance processes, workflows, and systems to streamline operations and enhance productivity whilst embedding adequate controls to mitigate risks.
Technology Integration
- Assessing and implementing advanced financial technologies to modernize, improve finance operations and automate manual tasks.
- Developing visualization dashboards to efficiently identify trends and anomalies to enable risk-based validation.
Change Management
- Leading and managing the change required for the function, ensuring smooth adoption of new processes and technologies by engaging and training the team and business users.
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with at least 8 years of relevant experience in corporate accounting function.
- Experience in process reengineering and change management.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies.
- Proven experience with SQL, Python and other automation / data analytics tools to support finance process digitalization and create data driven insights.
- Strong experience in control and compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- A mindset of continuous improvement and a willingness to explore innovative approaches to finance processes and technology.
- Ability to pick up new challenges in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
