Position Overview:
As a Game Landscape Designer, you will play a critical role in creating the thrilling marble tracks that define our gameplay experience. You will use your creativity and technical skills to design tracks that are both visually stunning and strategically challenging. This position requires a keen understanding of how track design affects gameplay, and you'll be working closely with game designers, developers, and artists to create seamless, exciting, and performance-optimized environments that enhance player engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop unique and imaginative marble tracks that offer a variety of challenges and gameplay experiences, ensuring each track is visually appealing and designed to boost player engagement.
- Collaborate with game designers to align track designs with gameplay mechanics and objectives, partnering with developers and artists to ensure smooth integration from concept to final implementation.
- Use industry-standard 3D modeling software like Blender, Maya, or equivalent tools to create detailed track elements, ensuring high aesthetic quality while maintaining gameplay functionality.
- Develop tracks with varying difficulty levels and continuously analyze track performance to ensure a smooth and balanced player experience, adjusting design elements as needed.
- Optimize all track designs for various platforms (e.g., PC, consoles, mobile) to maintain high performance and frame rates.
- Apply optimization techniques to reduce load times and prevent performance bottlenecks without sacrificing visual quality.
- Regularly test track designs through playtesting, gather feedback, and refine layouts to enhance player experience and improve track functionality.
- Ensure all marble tracks align with the overall visual and thematic direction of the game, maintaining consistency across all designs.
- Continuously find creative solutions to design challenges, from technical constraints to gameplay mechanics.
- Explore new ways to make tracks more interactive and engaging through innovative design approaches and features.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Proven experience working on physics-based games or track design.
- Experience designing tracks or other similar game elements, with a portfolio that demonstrates your creativity and technical expertise.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Maya, Blender, or equivalent tools.
- Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Experience coordinating and collaborating with diverse cross functional teams to bring a vision to life.
- Strong understanding of game physics and how they relate to track-based gameplay mechanics.
