- The Operational, Technology and Cyber Risk (OTCR) organisation is instrumental in protecting and ensuring the resilience of Standard Chartered Bank’s operations, data, and IT systems by optimising operational, technology and cyber risk across the enterprise. As a critical function reporting into the Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the Group OTCR team serves as the second line of defence for assuring that controls are implemented effectively, in accordance with the OTCR Framework, and for instilling a risk culture within the Bank.
- Director, Stress Testing Modelling is a permanent, strategic role that requires strong business acumen and a detailed knowledge of Operational Risk, Stress Testing and Scenario Analysis. The successful candidate will have key skills in quantification of Operational Risk and non-financial risks, stress testing and scenario analysis and be able to respond in a flexible and collaborative manner to evolving business, regulatory and threat demands. The role reports directly to the Head, OTCR, ICS Frameworks, Risk Appetite and Stress Testing.
- This is a senior level technical role, and the individual will be required to engage with technical experts from Group Model Validation team, Internal Audit and Regulators.
- The successful candidate will need to have proven experience in risk modelling, monte-carlo methods, extreme value theory, time series analysis be able to quantify / assess capital adequacy for OTCR and other non-financial risks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Lead the design and development of OTCR Capital Models (P2A) – Scenario Analysis and Loss Distribution Approach model.
- Lead the design and development of OTCR Stress Testing Model (P2B)
- Lead and manage the validation of the above models by interfacing with Group Model Validation team.
- Provide SME input to support operationalisation of applicable models in Countries.
- Support regulatory-related activities such as examinations and reports.
- Develop materials for regular updates to Head, OTCR, Risk MT, committees, on insights relating to Risk Appetite
- Ensures compliance with all applicable Framework, policies like Model Risk policy and standards.
- Lead and Develop OR Model Family standards.
People & Talent
- Leads through example by upholding high standards of excellence, ethics & code of conduct, governance and risk awareness, and stakeholder partnership & collaboration
- Collaborate with the wider OTCR team and share knowledge where relevant
Risk Management

- Providing ongoing reporting of risk exposure into governance meetings and to key stakeholders and escalating any blockages to progress to ensure Group MT, Risk & CFCC, and OTCR Scorecard objectives are met.

Our Ideal candidate:
- 10+ years of experience in Risk modelling and Master’s Degree level education or higher in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or in other quantitative fields
- Experience working in banking environment
- Experience managing senior stakeholder and can be a self-starter
- Hands on experience in model development, model validation
- Experience managing teams in different geography
- Develop materials for regular updates to Head, OTCR, Risk MT, committees, on insights relating to Risk Appetite
Role Specific Technical Competencies
