Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
Global Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a sub function of Group Risk and Compliance. The ERM function owns the Risk Management Framework, which includes the Group Risk Appetite Framework and Non-Financial Risk Framework, and seeks to more clearly align these to drive one clear holistic approach to Risk Management across the organisation. The objective of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is to develop a holistic, portfolio view of the most significant risks to the achievement of the entity’s most important objectives.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management, Wealth and Personal Banking, Singapore.
Principal Responsibilities
- The role holder will be responsible for providing ERM coverage over the Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) segments and products businesses in Singapore, including supporting the implementation and embedding of the ERM Singapore functional strategy, and developing and promoting an increasingly insightful view of ERM risks
- The role holder will also be responsible for providing operational and resilience risk oversight and stewardship for the WPB segments and products businesses in Singapore, ensuring that both operational risk and resilience risk are managed within appetite. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the embedding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and providing advice, guidance and challenge in relation to ERM oversight and internal control effectiveness within WPB Singapore
- Supporting with thematic reviews to ensure that the risk and control environment is commensurate with the scale and nature of operations
- Supporting operational and resilience risk management and acting as a key contact and escalation for senior stakeholder engagement
- Providing Second Line of Defence (2LOD) oversight of top and emerging risks, ensuring appropriate management and mitigation of these risks
- Attending relevant control meetings and non-financial risk governance forums, providing both operational risk oversight and robust and timely risk steward challenge of the First Line of Defence (1LOD) view of the resilience risk profile as required
- Applying risk stewardship review and challenge over the Resilience Risk RCAs and control environment
- Ensuring the integrity and timely completion of risk and control identification, assessment and information within the Group’s Risk and Control system of record (Helios) as well as directing documented remediation plans for residual risks
- The role holder will also support ERM coverage for the Singapore Insurance and Asset Management businesses from time to time
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of processes, risks and controls relating to Retail, Wealth, Private Bank, Asset Management and Insurance Segments and Products
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills with ability to interact with senior management and other key internal and external stakeholders
- Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment, particularly the regulatory landscape as well as risk, geopolitical, competitor, etc
- Strong level of risk management knowledge and relevant experience in at least one of the underlying resilience risk disciplines
- Prior experience and relevant professional qualifications in data and / or technology and cyber security risk will be advantageous
- BA or BS University Degree in a relevant discipline preferable
